VILLAGE PICNIC
Village Picnic creates unique, handcrafted experiences that celebrate connection, community, and the beauty of our regions.
From self-guided Mystery Picnics and scenic Pedal n Picnic rides to our Village Picnic to You mobile cart and artisan workshop collaborations, each experience showcases the best of local food, makers, and landscapes.
Our goal is simple — to transform ordinary days into memorable adventures filled with flavour, fun, and discovery.
Every experience includes a curated selection of artisan food and produce, thoughtfully packaged with eco-friendly materials.
Depending on your experience, inclusions may vary:
We currently operate in Matakana (north of Auckland) and Queenstown (South Island).
Each region highlights its local producers, landscapes, and community charm — so no two picnics are ever the same.
Our Mystery Picnic is a self-guided food adventure!
You’ll receive clues that guide you to visit artisan producers and scenic stops. At each location, you’ll collect items for your final picnic feast — often in a beautiful hidden spot only locals know about.
Perfect for couples, families, and small groups looking for something truly unique.
Pedal n Picnic combines cycling, local flavours, and the outdoors.
You’ll ride between carefully chosen stops, discovering local treats and stories along the way. The experience ends with a picturesque picnic you’ve gathered on your journey.
E-bikes are to be hired externally (Whizzy is our preferred supplier) or you can BYO — it’s all about slow travel, good food, and great company.
Our Village Picnic to You cart is a roaming charcuterie and cheese bar that brings the Village Picnic experience directly to your event or venue.
Perfect for weddings, corporate gatherings, private parties, or markets, the cart features local cheeses, meats, fruits, and accompaniments styled beautifully by our team.
We can set up almost anywhere — making it a showpiece that tastes as good as it looks!
We love teaming up with local artists, florists, and producers to create interactive workshops that blend creativity and food.
These may include floral design, pottery, painting, or seasonal produce sessions — always paired with beautiful platters or mini picnics.
Keep an eye on our website or Instagram for upcoming events in Matakana and Queenstown.
Bookings can be made directly through our website under each experience type.
